Win 7

Postby Lord Viykor » Tue Oct 20, 2009 6:31 pm

It wont be long until Win 7 is available, who will be taking the plunge?

I got myself a new Toshiba laptop and it came with an upgrade offer of Win 7 for $29. So very soon I'll be using the latest and greatest, mind you I'm quite happy with Vista.

From what I've read Win 7 should be pretty good but I wonder how long it will be before a Service Pack is released?

I'm running Win 7 RTM x64 right now.

As I understand it, I can buy tomorrow if I wish - I won't - and just input the key into the RTM.

I usually wait until the first service pack is out before I decide to upgrade to a new OS. That's why I'm still using XP and not Vista :P

I've got XP Professional on my server, Vista Ultimate on my desktop and Vista Home Premium on my laptop. The laptop will be getting Win 7 Home Premium.

I quite like Vista and think it's got a bad rap.

My daughters PC had the BSOD over the weekend. I looked for the lame back up discs that Toshiba provide and couldn't find it.

So the next logical step was buy an upgrade to Win 7, I have to say this is the easiest OS I've ever installed. It's just so quick and easy to set up everything. The network connection is a couple of clicks and the network printer is detected and installed without a hassle.

Dare I say M$ have finally got it right. :D

I'm hoping they'll bring the Family Pack to Australia, if they do I'll upgrade the boys PC's.

Apparently people are buying it on line and Microsoft doesnt have a problem with it being used in Australia. I did read that it probably wont be released here though

I do like the OS. I have a tale of woe. My old hardware wont keep up so I'm crossing to the dark side for the first time and upgrading two PC's here(including this one) with AMD Athlon 620 quad core processors, GigabyteGA-M720 mobos and ATI Raedon 4670 1gig graphics cards. Not high end but budget upgardes, PC's will run 4 gig ram. Got the mobo's and processors, waiting on the video cards :(

I had heard they were at DSE, the useless git I spoke to there didn't know anything about it.

Thanks for the link. :smt023

No probs, I am looking at getting it myself, but wont be until after Christmas or even mid next year, to much on at present.

The price is pretty good also, as all the ebay ones have just increased from ~$140 to almost $200 and bumped there postage up to ~$40 each

I placed an order this morning for the 3 pack, hopefully i'll see it in a week or so.

This is the first time I've ever done a mass upgrade of OS's at home.

I've just upgraded one of the boys PC's to

AM3 x4 Phenom 620
Powercolor 1GB ATI Radeon HD4670
Gigabyte M720-US3
4GIG Ram
Windows 7 x64 Professional

It's now the best PC in the house and absolutely flys
